Best Nomad Travel Insurance & Health Insurance for Expats

Digital Nomad World

In recent years, the world of global travel has been turned upside down: we’ve all had to deal with the fallout from a global pandemic and global conflicts. These kinds of unforeseen events have made simply hopping on a plane and jetting off to a different destination a little more difficult than usual. Especially for expats or nomads whose jet-setting lifestyles often mean living in different destinations and traveling without restrictions. Now more than ever, making sure you’ve got the right travel insurance for you is very important for your travels around the world. The thing is, the type of travel insurance that has traditionally been offered doesn’t always fit with the non-traditional lifestyle of nomads or expats. However, in the last few years, nomads’ insurance, which has been developed with both expats and nomads in mind, has taken the market by storm. This wave of specialized insurance companies have thrown out the rule books and created packages that allow nomads to travel and work without worry. Here, at Digital Nomad World, we’re no strangers to global travel and all of the pitfalls that can come with it. For the past year, we’ve taken a look at some of the best nomads’ insurance offerings out there, and picked out the best Nomad Travel and insurance company you should be looking at for all of your travel and medical insurance needs while on the road. Top Recommended Health & Travel Insurance for Nomads PassportCard ( www.passportcardnomads.com ) These guys are offering something a little revolutionary in the world of nomads insurance. Gone are the days when you were required to pay out of your pocket for trips to the doctors when abroad, and then had to spend your time claiming your cash back from your insurance company. Instead, PassportCard is quite simply a Visa card that you use to pay for any medical treatment upfront, no more waiting on your insurance company to pay out. Rather than conventional insurance, this is pretty much a debit card meaning you won’t be limited to what medical providers you use. The process is extremely simple: If you need help with medical expenses, get in touch with PassportCard; they will load your red card with money and then you just pay for whatever medical expenses need paying for. This is not normal expats or nomads’ insurance in the slightest, and for that reason it’s probably one of the best offerings for globe trotters right now. You can even buy it while abroad -tailor-make your plan to suit your trip and extend or cancel at any time, anywhere in the world. Plans start from $59 per month. Why did we choose PassportCard as the best Nomad Insurance? With its bold website and colorful design, PassportCard ticks a lot of boxes for those who want an affordable yet comprehensive nomads’ insurance option. Billing themselves as “a global social safety net”, PassportCard offers everything from a simple baseline insurance coverage to the most comprehensive insurance packages. This digital nomad-specific insurance gives you coverage for unforeseen injuries or illness while you’re abroad which includes any stays at a hospital or visits to a doctor. Travel disruption such as lost luggage, unplanned overnight stays, and emergency evacuation from things like flooding is also taken care of. The company has been backed up by a string of good reviews from digital nomads who have used their flexible policy to make sure their trip runs as smoothly as possible. The easy subscription model is something that ticks a lot of boxes for many looking for nomads’ insurance. Simply log on and get covered. Nomad and Expat Insurance Final Thoughts Though it may be more expensive than other companies, for the money you spend, you get excellent protection from a company that provides a reliable service. The founders of the company are nomads themselves, so you can trust that they know what they need to deliver in terms of insurance for digital nomads. These guys don’t just cover digital nomads, but also travelers, remote workers, and even expats. All in all, PassportCard feels like a much more grown-up option for your nomads insurance. Along with all the other perks, they also offer plans for families and couples. The benefits of opting for PassportCard nomads’ insurance with this particular company include a secure VPN for checking your bank account, access to airport lounges for late flights, and an emergency response team for those events when time is of the essence. They even offer virtual counseling sessions to keep your mental health in check after spending time alone on the road, something which could really help to make your life as an expat or nomad much more comfortable. Extreme Weather Puts Strain on Dairy Cows Across The Globe, Is Plant-Milk the Answer?

MarketJar

Extreme weather conditions across the globe are putting a strain on dairy cows, drying up milk production and withering crops that feed the cattle. Heat and drought in India, Australia and France are threatening long-term global dairy supply, including everything from butter to baby formula. Due to extreme weather brought on by climate change, some of the world's largest milk-producing regions are becoming less hospitable to these animals: Cows produce less milk when stressed by high temperatures, and arid conditions and storms exacerbate the problem by withering or destroying the grass and other crops they eat. In fact, some scientists predict that climate change will cost the dairy industry around $2.2 billion per year by the end of the century in the United States alone. According to another study, if greenhouse gas emissions remain high, the dairy and meat industries could lose $39.94 billion per year to heat stress by that same date. Fortunately, new and innovative alternative milk products are being developed for the market and consumers have been responding well. Plant-Based Milk Market Continues to Gain Steam Alternative dairy and plant-based milk are not new, but they have continued to rise in popularity over the years. In 2022, the plant-based milk market reached $38.9 billion after doubling in the previous five years. And over the next decade, the global market is expected to quadruple. As the market grows and evolves, new plant-based milk formulations are replacing old ones as consumer favorites. Soy milk was popular at first, but it gave way to almond milk. Now, oat milk is rapidly gaining popularity. Even as oat milk becomes more popular, a new plant-based milk trend is emerging: sesame milk. Some of the key factors behind the market's growth are the rising prevalence of dairy intolerance, as well as growing concern for the planet. Add to that increasing consumer awareness of the health of animals, and it’s easy to see why the plant-based milk industry is expected to continue rising in the coming years. Of course, alternatives like almond milk still take a toll on the planet due to high water usage and damage to bee populations. Luckily, there are new alternatives like sesame milk, which uses 95% less water compared to almond milk and thrives in arid climates around the globe, from South America to Africa to Asia. As consumers become more environmentally conscious, The Planting Hope Company Inc. (TSXV:MYLK) (OTCQB:MYLKF ) is gaining attention. The Planting Hope Company Inc. The Chicago School of Professional Psychology Names Three New Trustees

The Chicago School of Professional Psychology

The Chicago School of Professional Psychology recently named three outstanding business, professional, and community leaders to its Board of Trustees. They join the existing 12-member board of the 43-year-old non-profit educational institution, which serves 6,000 students on seven campuses nationwide. “We are pleased to have such distinguished leaders join our board” said Dr. Michele Nealon, Psy.D., President of The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. “These individuals have the skills and background to help us meet the challenges of preparing future mental health professionals, especially those interested in working in underserved communities.” Sian Seligman of Los Angeles is the Chief Marketing Officer for Resonate Blends, a cannabis holding company and innovation lab that develops cannabis wellness products under the brand Koan. She worked for two decades as a brand marketing and consumer strategist for Fortune 500 companies, gaining a deep understanding of the buying habits and psycho-social motivations of the American consumer. In 2020, Seligman became the youngest person and first Asian American female to head the Board of Governors at the City Club Los Angeles, where she managed a major reorganization while retaining 85 percent of club membership in the midst of forced closure due to the pandemic. Seligman holds an MS in Herbal Medicine from the American College of Healthcare Sciences and a BS in Business Administration from Cal Poly Pomona. ______________________________________________________________________________ Eloisa Perard of Los Angeles is CEO & President of QueensCare Health Centers (QHC), a non-profit, Federally Qualified Community Health Center organization, with five health centers in underserved neighborhoods of Los Angeles. “I look forward to adding my expertise to the board in generational trends and insights,” she said. “My goal is to bring diverse and innovative thinking about the future of higher learning, particularly mental wellness education.” Perard has also held executive positions in education and manufacturing since earning an MS in Organizational Psychology and a BS in Organizational Management from the University of La Verne. Perard serves as Treasurer on the Board of Directors of Community Clinics Association of Los Angeles County (CCALAC), a non-profit network that advocates for expanding access to health care for the medically underserved people in Los Angeles County. She also serves on the Board of Directors of Health Care L.A. (HCLA), an Independent Physician Association (IPA). Dina Torrisi Martin of Chicago is General Counsel of the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, where she heads the Office of Legal Affairs. As counsel to the Secretary, Division Directors, and executive staff of this agency, she oversees litigation and administrative hearing decisions, and formulates policy decisions. “As the pandemic surely highlighted, mental well-being is an imperative,” said Martin. “I am honored to become a trustee and look forward to working with the growing Chicago School community.” She is a former partner and head of medical malpractice at Hughes Socol Piers Resnick & Dym, Ltd., where she represented hospitals and health professionals before regulatory agencies. Torrisi Martin is an elected member of the American Board of Trial Advocates, the Society of Trial Lawyers, and other professional organizations. She earned a JD from the University of Illinois Chicago School of Law and a BA in Political Science from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. # About The Chicago School of Professional Psychology: Integrating theory with hands-on experience, The Chicago School of Professional Psychology provides education rooted in a commitment to innovation, service, and community for thousands of diverse students across the United States and globally.
