New Report Details How to Reduce Carbon Emissions by 22% in Global Supply Chain by Adopting a Freight Data Exchange Standard

Coalition for Reimagined Mobility

The Coalition for Reimagined Mobility (ReMo), a global initiative created to shape policy and ideas for more equitable and sustainable movement of people and goods around the world, today released a report that details the impact of freight sector data sharing to improve the sustainability and reliability of the global supply chain. The report includes new modeling from the International Transport Forum (ITF), which found that the adoption of an open freight data exchange standard would not only improve operational efficiencies across the supply chain, reducing the unprecedented level of goods stuck at global ports, it will also result in an estimated 22% reduction in carbon emissions by 2050 and eliminate 2.5 billion barrels of oil per year. Freight data exchange standards are open or freely available technical specifications that define how to share critical information to seamlessly facilitate global freight logistics. Standardizing the exchange of freight data will support a transition to widespread software-enabled communication forming the backbone of better stakeholder coordination across the global supply chain. Clean Fuel and Electrification Are Not Enough to Decarbonize the Freight Sector “We need a comprehensive plan of action to decarbonize our global freight sector,” said Mary Nichols, co-chair of the Coalition for Reimagined Mobility. “Business as usual is not an option. As we transition to increasingly lower carbon fuels, vessels and vehicles, we must also rapidly deploy technology solutions that will drive operational efficiencies - and critically needed climate benefits - across the global supply chain.” ReMo partnered with the ITF to use its globally renowned freight emissions model to quantify emissions reductions that could be generated by data exchange to share logistical data in near real-time and streamline the supply chain. The impact is significant, including: A reduction of sea freight emissions by 280 million tons of carbon per year and road freight emissions by 360 million tons of carbon per year; Elimination of 2.5 billion barrels of oil per year; and A 6-percent cost savings per ton-kilometer. A Freight Data Exchange Standard Will Increase Freight System Resilience and Sustainability While Reducing Oil Dependence. Digitalization of the freight sector has lagged as market and regulatory failures have created barriers to change. The time for action is now. The Coalition for Reimagined Mobility calls on policymakers to take the following steps immediately: Require the use of freight data exchange standards as a condition for accessing ports. Deploy freight data exchange standards that communicates near real-time operational data. Allocate authority to national governments and ports to require the use of freight data exchange standards. Allocate seed funding to ports and industry stakeholders to deploy data exchange standard pilots and projects. Initiate and fund targeted intermodal exchange and smart steaming programs to realize near-term emissions reduction benefits. “The world’s largest shippers and major supply chain players must work together to forge a new path to decarbonization and resilience by embracing digitalization and a globally accepted freight data exchange standard,” said Michael Hynekamp, COO, Wallenius Wilhelmsen ASA. “We, alongside members of the Coalition, are committed to reimagining the freight system in collaboration with private and public organizations around the world. Digital transformation is the way towards our sustainable future.” Visit this link to download the full report. Stupid Cancer and its partners release a statement regarding abortion access for cancer patients

Stupid Cancer, Inc.

The following joint statement was issued today by Stupid Cancer's Board of Directors and co-signed by Bright Spot Network, Cactus Cancer Society, Cervivor, Elephants and Tea, Escape, Family Reach, Fuck Cancer, Imerman Angels, Living Beyond Breast Cancer, Teen Cancer America, True North Treks, and The Ulman Foundation. Stupid Cancer and its Board of Directors is committed to the empowerment of people affected by adolescent and young adult (AYA) cancer. As patient advocacy organizations serving AYA patients, we join the medical community in fully renouncing any efforts to limit or remove access to safe abortion care. Abortion is a safe and essential healthcare right. Patients with cancer may face many difficult choices in their treatment journey. Patients who learn of a cancer diagnosis during pregnancy often must choose between continuing pregnancy (delaying essential life-saving treatments) and termination of pregnancy. Surgeries or medical treatment for cancer that could also result in loss of pregnancy would be considered abortion under certain state laws. This threatens the patient’s ability to receive cancer care in a timely fashion. Additionally, the continued interference of state legislatures into individuals’ personal healthcare decisions undermines the principles of the patient-physician relationship. These decisions are personal and should be made by patients in discussion with their medical team and not limited by legal consideration. Changes occurring in state laws ( Texas SB8, Oklahoma HB4327 ) and the recent ruling of the Supreme Court of the United States regarding Dobbs vs. Jackson Women’s Health Organization raise grave concerns regarding access to abortion care in this country. Multiple leading medical organizations including American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ACOG) 1, Society for Gynecologic Oncology (SGO) 2, American Society of Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) 3, North American Society of Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology (NASPAG) and Society for Adolescent Health and Medicine (SAHM) have denounced the opinions of this ruling. Given trigger laws in effect in at least 25 states, swift and immediate loss of abortion access is expected. A joint statement from NASPAG/SAHM 4 outlines how these changes would affect adolescent and young adult (AYA) patients in particular. AYA patients undergoing cancer care often consider options for preserving their fertility prior to cancer therapies, including freezing embryos. Given the confusion and misconceptions that anti-abortion legislation has caused and more recent bans starting with fertilization, we also have grave concerns that these laws and those that follow will limit the ability of patients to access fertility preservation techniques and have control over reproductive decision making of their stored tissue in the future. Finally, given misconceptions about the mechanisms of actions of many of the most effective contraceptive methods (including emergency contraceptives), we have serious concerns about the potential for limitations on AYA patients' access to the best form of contraception for them. We, the undersigned, are patient advocacy nonprofit organizations supporting AYA patients and their loved ones. We remain committed to advocating for the AYA community to have resources to navigate treatment and survivorship on their own terms, inclusive of access to abortion care. Signed Stupid Cancer, Inc. ‘Ready for Ron’ Releases Research Showing DeSantis Favorability Growing

Ready for Ron

Today, Ready for Ron, a draft committee encouraging Florida Governor Ron DeSantis to run for President, released research it commissioned from Impact Social showing growing support for Governor DeSantis. Impact Social analyzed the online and social media discussion in relation to Ron DeSantis and Donald Trump among swing voters from June 1 to June 14, 2022. It will repeat this analysis for the next several weeks to determine trends of candidate support. The summary of findings states in part: “…Ron DeSantis is not short of love and support among floating voters. Many are attracted by his straight talking and political clarity which appeals to rightish voters living in more left leaning states. They see a leader who gets things done. People inside and outside FL applaud how he has led the state through Covid 19 and support his policy positions on issues like guns, abortion and CRT… The news is positive amongst liberal detractors as well: “…Despite this love fest there are many fence sitters who loathe DeSantis, though it must be stressed that this mainly stems from the left. They see the governor as Trump in disguise. They feel strongly that FL is no longer a free state and has instead turned into DeSantis’ Land, an authoritarian country which is free only in the eyes of its leader. In evidence they speak of the Disney related ‘don’t say gay’ law, the withdrawal of funding to the Tampa Bay Rays - allegedly due to their views on gun control - and the supposed bullying of the Special Olympics to lift its vaccine mandate. All of which leads those who oppose DeSantis to mark him as ‘dangerous’, a threat to democracy and freedom of speech…” “This initial research supports what we are already seeing regarding growing support for Ron DeSantis. “While misguided and false attacks from the radical left increase, his support does too,” explained Ready for Ron legal counsel and spokeswoman Lilian Rodríguez-Baz. “The radical left is risking our future, and DeSantis has the courage to fight back, which is why they fear him so much.” “Our country must change course immediately,” Rodríguez-Baz continued. With the economy, inflation, crime, and erosion of the American way of life, we need confident, dependable, and proven leadership like only Ron DeSantis can deliver.” The online and social media analysis Impact Social shows more conversations taking place about DeSantis and the focus and content are trending positive. “Under President Donald Trump’s leadership, the United States enjoyed record unemployment, economic stability, safety, and global respect. Many are yearning for a return to these policies and the prosperity good leadership can bring,” Rodríguez-Baz said. “The era of President Trump was wonderful, but now, since he isn’t currently running, we must get ready for a new leader, we must be Ready for Ron.” The Committee continues its TV and online advertising to engage Americans to sign the petition at ReadyForRon.com to Draft Ron DeSantis to run in 2024. Impact Social is a specialist social media, online monitoring, and analysis company. Using big data software Impact Social tracks over 60 million online sites including Twitter, Facebook, all blogs, forums, and news websites. While ‘Ready for Ron’ is completely unaffiliated with the DeSantis campaign per federal regulations, it has taken the novel step of submitting a formal Advisory Opinion Request to the FEC seeking to share its growing supporter list with Governor DeSantis if the Draft succeeds and he announces his candidacy. ### Contact Details Ready for Ron Dan Rene +1 202-329-8357 dan@readyforron.com Company Website https://www.readyforron.com/
