Those that struggle with mental health understand that sometimes the “end of the tunnel” is nowhere in sight. It can sometimes feel like that hole they’re in is too hard to climb out of and recovery is nowhere near. Erin Wall remembers that feeling all too well, she once believed she wasn’t strong enough to survive this world. Through her journey of self-discovery and much internal healing, Erin was able to rediscover her light, today she shares this same hope with others around the world.

Erin Wall was born in New York to a military family and has spent the last 28 years navigating a series of trials, tribulations, and finally, triumphs. Erin joined the Navy after graduation, which began a whirlwind of consequences that forever changed her. After receiving her Bachelor’s Degree in Business from San Diego Christian College, as well as a Master’s in Project Management from Grantham University, she began writing a book to aid in her recovery from mental and physical struggles, but also wrote it to help others who have fought the same battles. Erin’s story is unlike any other, she doesn’t have much of a memory before the age of 18 because of a traumatic mental breakdown, also referred to as a psychosis. She had to relearn everything about her life and herself again. “Though there have been unexpected trials and tribulations, it has been, and continues to be, a good life. I found love, comfort, and my path to success thanks to the story told in this book.” Erin’s book, Finding Success After Failure: How Psychosis Made Me and Did Not Break Me, recounts her journey of self-discovery when most would have given up. Her story may have started with a medical diagnosis, but, to Erin, her experience is one she uses now to inspire others on their healing journey.

“There was a time in my life when I believed I wasn't strong enough to survive this world. But, the truth is, those moments in my life were what defined my self-worth. Not because of the mistakes I made or what those choices caused, but, rather, I might never have found myself without losing my way first.” Erin believes her writing process played a key role in her healing journey, so she hopes to continue to heal and help others simultaneously. Wall plans to continue her healing journey by starting a non-profit where she can help others who are looking to heal. With every human’s brain being so unique, everyone’s journey to healing will also be different. Psychosis was a traumatic brain experience (TBE) for Erin, and has left the same traumas as well as side effects of a TBI. When healing past traumas, having to relearn who you are, and praying for hope to come, it can be easy to get discouraged. Erin hopes to inspire others and show them that recovery is well within reach for us all, it just takes some work, but that work is well worth it.
