Elsevier partners with SimTutor, a leading provider of allied health simulations, to offer digital solutions in allied health education

Elsevier

Elsevier, a global leader in research publishing and information analytics, has launched a partnership with SimTutor, an Atlanta-based developer of SIMTICS virtual simulations for allied health students. SimTutor’s simulations provide allied health students with a safe and cost-effective digital environment to learn and practice the procedures they will be expected to perform when they enter the workforce. Interacting with these state-of-the-art simulations helps students build procedural skills quickly and retain knowledge longer while providing them with real-time formative feedback. As a result, students who work with SIMTICS simulations have reduced performance anxiety and much higher confidence levels when they complete a new procedure in a lab or clinical setting. This partnership with SimTutor enhances Elsevier’s extensive portfolio of digital health solutions at a time when instructors have seen access to clinical space limited, and when health professionals are needed more than ever. Starting later this year, select Elsevier allied health books will be packaged with SIMTICS online simulations for the first time, giving students access to an immersive learning experience that simulates what they will experience in a real-life clinical setting. Brent Gordon, Managing Director and General Manager, Nursing and Health Education, Elsevier, said: “At Elsevier, we are proud to be a trusted partner for healthcare practitioners throughout their career from education to practice. The partnership with SimTutor expands our simulation offerings while advancing our purpose of improving learning and patient outcomes.” Using SimTutor’s proprietary platform, SIMTICS modules track student progress and provide detailed performance analytics. Dashboards organize the data and give instructors and administrators actionable feedback about student performance — as individuals, as a cohort, as well as at the program level. Student performance data can also be seamlessly shared with each institution’s Learning Management System. Clancy Marshall, CEO of SimTutor, said: "Together with Elsevier, we are delighted to take this exciting step forward in our mission to empower students to become confident, successful healthcare professionals by leveraging modern, digital solutions.” Currently, SimTutor’s SIMTICS products are used in more than 500 institutions across North America. --- About SimTutor SimTutor Inc. creates simulation-based solutions to train and prepare students and professionals for mission-critical moments at the time they need them most. The company’s virtual learning modules and authoring platform are trusted by schools, colleges and corporations. The Significant Burden of Migraine Disease

YourUpdateTV

The National Headache Foundation announced findings from a new survey, Preventing Migraine Attacks: A Current Perspective, which characterizes the experiences of people living with migraine and highlights the physical and emotional barriers to preventive treatment. Recently, Jill Dehlin, Chairperson for the National Headache Foundation (NHF) Patient Leadership Council – and someone who suffers from migraines – teamed with YourUpdateTV on a nationwide satellite media tour to discuss this debilitating disease. A video accompanying this announcement is available at: https://youtu.be/xavJfPIoufU The survey found half (50%) of people with migraine are extremely dissatisfied with their current ability to control their disease and report a range of emotions as a result, including frustration (39%), exhaustion (29%), stress (19%) and anxiety (15%). Despite the variety of options currently available to treat and prevent migraines, most people with migraine still aren’t able to completely control their disease and the negative effects and feelings that come with it. In fact, most responders (84%) currently taking a preventive treatment wish there was a better treatment option. According to Jill Dehlin, “migraine is the second most debilitating disease worldwide and it impacts all facets of a person’s life, causing significant emotional and physical distress. So many people with migraine live in fear every day because they don’t know when an attack will hit…In this survey, many people reported feeling they are chasing an unreachable goal to get their migraine disease under control, highlighting the need for new preventive treatment options, as well as resources to educate and empower them to take control of their disease.” The survey also explored how migraine disproportionately affects women and people of color to better understand their unique experiences and address challenges. For nearly half of women with migraine disease (48%), hormonal changes related to menstruation, menopause or childbirth triggered worsening of their migraine disease. Black and Hispanic people with migraine reported being more likely to feel worry, fear, and anxiety at the thought of taking a preventive treatment. But when asked about treating their disease overall, 77% of Black and 73% of Hispanic responders say they wish they had sought care sooner. For more information, visit: headaches.org About The National Headache Foundation: Founded in 1970, the National Headache Foundation is the oldest and largest foundation for individuals living with migraine disease and headache disorders. ZIPPZ Introduces Science-Backed, Personalized CBD Products for Sleep and Anxiousness

ZIPPZ

With a majority of adults suffering from lack of sleep and high levels of stress, it’s time to make some changes. Launching today, ZIPPZ Inc. offers personalized CBD therapies rooted in science and developed by a team of leading physicians and clinicians. Designed to address challenges with sleep, stress, and anxiousness, these patent-pending products provide personalized solutions to fit the unique needs of each individual customer. “The medicinal cannabis industry often defaults to ‘one-size-fits-all’ product solutions, especially when it comes to CBD. On my personal journey to reduce stress, I was shocked by the lack of scientifically-formulated products in the category,” stated Scott Eagle, CEO of ZIPPZ. “ZIPPZ recognizes that each customer is unique, so we developed an innovative program to help consumers get matched to the ZIPPZ CBD wellness formulas customized to meet their specific needs.” Taking a science-first approach, ZIPPZ worked with experts in the fields of medicinal cannabis and bio/botanical research to develop products based on a network pharmacology model. ZIPPZ formulas include a distinct blend of 35 natural ingredients - including CBD, CBN, and CBG plus a selection of proven botanicals (e.g. Ashwagandha, Chamomile, Magnolia Bark) - that target not just one, but multiple receptors in the body that help regulate sleep, stress, and anxiousness. As part of their personalization process, ZIPPZ offers 255 different trial pack combinations for consumers to sample to ensure a customized fit. Dr. June Chin, Integrative Cannabis Physician, author, and advisor for ZIPPZ, stated "I have advocated for the understanding of the medical applications of cannabis my entire career, and I’m a strong believer in CBD’s ability to deliver relief. Over the past 20 years, I’ve helped thousands of patients discover customized cannabis solutions and I’m honored to work with the ZIPPZ team to help them create affordable, personalized CBD therapies that utilize cannabinoids and botanicals to deliver targeted relief to those who need it.” The ZIPPZ approach is data-driven and customer-focused. Prior to purchase, consumers take a 5-minute assessment that analyzes a variety of factors including condition, age, lifestyle, and gender. Based on the assessment results, ZIPPZ creates a customized trial pack of up to four formulas to test as well as a personalized report detailing why each product was recommended. Once the customer receives their trial pack, they can sample each product and make a final determination of which formulas worked best for them. In a recent 3rd party market research study, 89% of people completing their trial of ZIPPZ products found at least one of the recommended products met their needs. ZIPPZ Trial Packs start at $29 and include 5 doses of each recommended formula for the customer to try. Once the best products are identified by the consumer, ZIPPZ credits 100% of the Trial Pack cost towards the purchase of their first full-size bottle. Full-size bottles (60 softgels, 30 doses) start at $78. ZIPPZ products are available exclusively online at www.zippz.com To stay informed about everything ZIPPZ, follow them on social at @zippzwellness. ABOUT ZIPPZ: ZIPPZ is a direct-to-consumer, California-based CBD wellness company offering personalized, scientifically-formulated CBD solutions targeting sleep, stress, and anxiousness. Founded by a team of physicians, clinicians, scientists, and technologists, ZIPPZ dismisses the one-size-fits-all approach to CBD therapies. After consumers complete a quick and thorough 5-minute assessment, ZIPPZ uses data science to help match them with personalized solutions. Rooted in nature and activated by science, ZIPPZ combines CBD with over 30 carefully selected botanicals to deliver therapies customized to each individual’s needs. Airports, Take Notice: 84% of Travelers Want Bio-Security Measures to Protect Against Current & Future Pandemics

WarpUV

TEL AVIV, Israel, May 17, 2021 –– Ever stop to think how many hands touch your luggage from the time you leave home, arrive at the airport, and then reach your travel destination? Curious to know how many virus particles fit on a single pinhead? Are you in the habit of disinfecting your luggage after a trip? According to a Post-COVID-19 Air Travel/Bio-Security survey conducted last week, all respondents said they believe their baggage has passed through a lot of hands – 10 or more. Of those, 17 percent believe more than 20 hands have handled their luggage, whether while using a ride service, the baggage handlers at the airport, or hotel personnel. It's no wonder, then, that when COVID-19 hit, consumers were reluctant to travel. More than 55 percent of the consumers who completed the survey, in fact, said they did not travel by air last year because they feared either contracting the virus or potentially spreading it to others. This, and the actions taken by the airline industry as a result of COVID-19, created a huge blow to air travel. According to the International Air Transport Association (IATA), the pandemic resulted in a 66 percent drop in air travel last year. That’s more than after the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) outbreak of 2003, and the global financial crisis of 2008. As people around the globe are being vaccinated against the Coronavirus and with more awareness about the devastating effects of virus spread, it’s not surprising that more than 84 percent of respondents said they agree with officials at the world’s leading agencies – the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), World Health Organization (WHO), and the Council of European Unions – that another pandemic is inevitable, and it is critical to be prepared. As with x-ray and other measures taken at airports following the 9/11 terrorist attacks, those same respondents agree airports should take bio-security measures to minimize the health and economic impact of future virus spread. Specifically, when asked if they’d feel safer and more likely to travel by air if luggage would be completely and quickly disinfected using ultraviolet (UV) technology at the airport, 78 percent said yes. For some respondents, the COVID-19 crisis is waning because many have received vaccinations against Coronavirus. Still, only 16 percent said they felt additional bio-security measures are unnecessary. “The COVID-19 virus has inflicted devastating health and economic impact on the world, but the call for bio-security at airports is a practical solution that can lessen or even stop the rapid spread of future contagions,” said Amir Fischer, CEO of WarpUV. “Studies show the most effective way to disinfect items like checked luggage and carry-on bags – many of which are soft-sided or have many handles, zippers and uneven surfaces – is with 360-degree ultraviolet (UV) light bio cleansing. The technology exists, it’s proven fast and effective, and is ready to be implemented.” Some additional data from the WarpUV/SurveyMonkey consumer survey include: When asked whether they realized that 100 million virus particles of COVID-19 could fit on the head of a pin, 62 percent said they had not previously heard that fact. 58 percent of respondents said they have never disinfected their own luggage during or after use. Of those, 28 percent said, in light of the virus spread, they will now start doing so. During the height of the pandemic, the ability to travel by air around the world was heavily curtailed due to flight cancellations, as well as airport closures because baggage handlers or passengers had contracted COVID-19. Just last week, Changi Airport in Si ngapore closed due to a report of COVID-19 cases. Although cases of COVID-19 contracted at airports were widely reported, 55 percent of respondents queried in the survey were unaware of this fact. About WarpUV Warp Technologies and its AirFort® devices are the frontline of prevention of the spread of pandemic by luggage and baggage in airports worldwide and serve as a “disinfection firewall” for continents, countries, and regions. The company was formed in 2020 by veteran Israeli entrepreneurs Amir Fischer, Eitan Haimovich, and Gil Luxenbourg. For more information, visit www.warpUV.com. YourUpdateTV

SOCIETY OF UROLOGIC ONCOLOGY SHARES NEW PATIENT & CAREGIVER RESOURCES TO MARK BLADDER CANCER AWARENESS MONTH

Society of Urologic Oncology

The Society of Urologic Oncology (SUO) is sharing several new valuable resources for patients suffering from malignant genitourinary diseases like bladder cancer, and their caregivers. This release of a guidebook, documentary video, and public service announcements coincide with the designation of May as Bladder Cancer Awareness Month. The materials, made possible by funding support from Bristol Myers Squibb, feature Major League Baseball star pitcher and broadcaster, Jim Kaat. The resources offer information, help, comfort, and hope to those seeking more information about their health, and options following a diagnosis. “Nearly 68,000 people in the United States are impacted by bladder cancer every year, making it one of the most common cancers. It is also one of the deadliest cancers that will claim close to 18,000 lives in the US this year alone,” explained Dr. Michael Cookson, the President of the Society of Urologic Oncology. “Too often our patients learn about this disease upon diagnosis despite the warning signs. The resources we are sharing help patients and their caregivers navigate the best path forward for treatment and better health.” The SUO’s Guide to Advanced Bladder Cancer for Patients and Caregivers includes a 40-page guidebook and a companion (15-minute) documentary-style video. The guidebook is designed to help the reader better understand advanced bladder cancer, how it can be treated, and resources available to help improve health and well-being. Dr. Seth Lerner, a SUO physician, Chair of its Education Committee, and leader in the Bladder Cancer Advocacy Network stated, “These tools provide the information our patients, and the people who care for them need fight this disease. There are so many questions that come up along the way, and these resources will help them improve their lives in the exam room and at home too.” The video features SUO President Dr. Michael Cookson, Chair, Department of Urology, University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center & The Stephenson Cancer Center; and Dr. Sima Porten, Associate Professor, Department of Urology, University of California, San Francisco. Also featured - speaking from the caregiver perspective - is Major League Baseball star pitcher and broadcaster Jim Kaat, who tells the moving story of his late wife’s battle with bladder cancer. “Patients and their loved ones need to understand they are not alone,” stated Dr. Sima Porten, a SUO physician and member of its Education Committee. “Having information about the disease, how it is treated, and what can be expected can provide peace of mind to those in the fight. Learning from others and sharing experiences is valuable to the physical and mental health of patients.” Additionally, public service announcements are being distributed to further promote the availability of these important resources. The thirty-second and one-minute versions of the PSA are available here: https://suonet.org/resources/patients.aspx “Receiving a diagnosis of advanced bladder cancer can be scary and overwhelming. Although it might seem impossible to sift through all the new information you are faced with, SUO physicians are committed to helping our patients though treatment and trustworthy resources like this guidebook and video,” Dr. Cookson continued. The materials were produced by Conrad & Associates, an organization committed to improving health literacy by bringing together medical professionals and organizations, celebrities, and pharma to create patient education programs on current health topics. In addition to resources for patients, the materials also offer guidance for caregivers – including the personal perspective from Jim Kaat who explains, “When you’re caring for a loved one, sometimes you neglect taking care of yourself. It’s very important for the caregiver to also take care of themselves.” ### The Society of Urologic Oncology (SUO) was founded in 1984 for the purpose of bringing together healthcare professionals to discuss, develop, and implement ideas to improve care for people with malignant genitourinary diseases like bladder cancer.
