Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria Pledges $500K Matching Gift to Support Russian River Redwoods Acquisition

Save the Redwoods League

Today, Save the Redwoods League announced that the Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria (FIGR or Graton Rancheria ) has offered a $500,000 matching gift to enable the protection of Russian River Redwoods. With this pledge, all donations to the Russian River Redwoods project made before Sept. 30 will be matched dollar for dollar, up to $500,000. On Aug. 1, the League announced it had secured an agreement with RMB Revocable Family Trust to acquire a 394-acre redwood forest in Sonoma County, named Russian River Redwoods. The League now has until Sept. 30, 2023, to secure the $6.5 million needed to acquire the property and later transfer it to Sonoma County. The deal will ensure long-term protection for the Clar Tree, one of the county’s oldest and tallest coast redwoods, and for one mile of Russian River frontage near Guerneville. “We are thrilled to have the opportunity to set this forest on a restoration path to grow the old-growth forest of the future, and we are delighted that so many are eager to help! There has been an outpouring of support since our announcement earlier this month. And the generosity of our friends at The Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria is simply astonishing,” said Sam Hodder, president and CEO of Save the Redwoods League. “It is inspiring that The Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria are helping to preserve this special forest within their traditional lands.” “We are proud to support our partners at Save the Redwoods League,” said Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria Tribal Chairman Greg Sarris. “This coast redwood and Douglas-fir forest along the river is in the heart of the traditional lands and Southern Pomo territory of the Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria. As part of our mission of environmental stewardship, we are excited to help return this important habitat and culturally significant land to uses that allow it to thrive.” The Russian River is home to steelhead trout and coho and Chinook salmon. Russian River Redwoods also includes a half-mile section of Mays Canyon Creek, a well-known stream for steelhead. The site connects a contiguous habitat corridor of more than 4,000 acres of protected lands, home to northern spotted owls, bobcats, gray foxes and red tree voles. Nearly all the old-growth redwood trees at Russian River Redwoods were cut down more than 100 years ago—all except the Clar Tree. This ancient giant measures 16 feet in diameter. It stands 278 feet tall after the intense winter storms of 2023 sheared roughly 30 feet off the top. The Clar Tree is surrounded by younger mature redwoods; many are a century old and are regrowing from the roots of other ancient trees that once stood on the property. The League plans to transfer the land to Sonoma County within a year for long-term stewardship and restoration to improve wildfire resilience and advance the forest toward old-growth form and function. Sonoma County Agricultural Preservation and Open Space District will support and help fund the transfer, and it will receive a conservation easement and recreational covenant over the property to ensure long-term protection and to create an opportunity for future access. * * * The public can donate to support the protection of the Clar Tree and Russian River Redwoods on the Save the Redwoods League website. The matching grant from The Federated Indians of the Graton Rancheria will match every gift made before Sept. 30, dollar-for-dollar, up to $500,000. * * * To access hi-res images and b-roll, visit the League’s online newsroom. Crypto Projects With 100x Potential: Tron (TRX), Polkadot, Everlodge

Total Media

With a new cryptocurrency bull market on the way, investors are looking for high-potential projects. While there are thousands available, TRON, Everlodge and Polkadot are expected to offer the best returns. Experts believe that Polkadot is significantly undervalued. With a rapidly growing ecosystem, it could hit new all-time highs over the next year. Meanwhile, TRON is gaining traction in markets worldwide, and has increased in value by 12.94% in the last year. Everlodge is yet to be released. However, the project provides game-changing utility and is expected to offer huge returns. Find Out How To Buy Everlodge (ELDG) Everlodge Is Taking Property Digital Everlodge is a groundbreaking new DeFi project. It utilizes DeFi technology to help investors purchase fractional shares in luxury villas, hotels, and vacation homes. With the market for vacation homes increasing a massive 4.6% annually, Everlodge is expected to provide investors with a number of lucrative opportunities. The platform is designed to be simple for both sellers and buyers. Owners can mint their property as an NFT, which is then fractionalized. Investors can then purchase NFT fractions for a lower cost than if they were to buy the entire property. This reduces the barriers to entry, letting more investors profit throughout the market. Everlodge will reward early investors with a guaranteed return. The project uses a dynamic pricing model in which ELDG tokens will increase after each phase of its presale has sold out. This, in addition to several token holder benefits, has put Everlodge in high demand despite the fact that its presale hasn’t started yet. Once it begins, Everlodge tokens will start selling at $0.01 and are expected to reach $0.035 before its presale has finished. Holders will be able to stake tokens for a passive income. They will also receive free nightly stays in hotels and villas if they join the rewards club. These can be used as a free holiday or sold for a profit. TRON’s Growth Slows In July Over the last thirty days, TRON has increased in value by 0.60%. The project surged to $0.09 on the 22nd of the month after XRP won its case against the SEC. This was also a win for TRON, as its founder now faces legal action from the regulatory board. Although TRON’s value has declined, investors remain bullish. The project's daily trading volume has remained above $150 million and is pushing $200 million going into August. As TRON’s popularity continues to increase, experts believe that TRON could hit $0.1 by the end of the year. Polkadot Could Be Undervalued According To Analysts Polkadots price has decreased by 3.04% in the past month. The project is now trading at $5.17 and remains 40% lower than its value just one year ago. However, both experts and investors agree that Polkadot is significantly undervalued. In 2023, the Polkadot ecosystem has grown faster than ever. Its number of contributors has increased from 15,000 to 19,090, breaking a record in the process. As a result, Polkadot is now the second largest ecosystem in terms of contributors. After breaking records, Polkadot continues to expand. 10 new decentralized apps have been launched, with several more planned for Q3. With its ecosystem continuing to expand, experts predict that Polkadot could hit new all-time highs during the next crypto bull market. Amenities include an ADA all-gender restroom and paved pathways inside the central gathering area, seating and shaded picnic areas, shaded overlooks and multilingual educational interpretation signage in English, Spanish and Vietnamese. Due to the sensitivity of the preserve’s habitats, dogs and drones are not permitted anywhere on the property. No water is available at the preserve. Full details about preserve access schedule and regulations are online at https://www.openspaceauthority.org/preserves/coyoteridge.html “We are excited to welcome visitors to enjoy the trails," said Derek Neumann, field operations manager for the Open Space Authority. “This preserve is unlike any other in the Bay Area. It's home to many rare, endangered and endemic plants and animals, which is why our hours of operation and access to the Habitat Protection Area are seasonal and require the free Butterfly Pass. We want visitors to witness firsthand how unique this place is. We are asking everyone to do their part to help respect and protect the sensitive plants and wildlife that call this place home.” History of Máyyan 'Ooyákma – Coyote Ridge Open Space Preserve The preserve is located within the ethnohistoric territory of the Muwekma Ohlone Tribe of the San Francisco Bay Area, which worked with the Open Space Authority to integrate a Chochenyo translation of “Coyote Ridge” into the preserve’s name. Máyyan 'Ooyákma is pronounced “ My-yahn Oiy-yahk-mah.” The Tribe also helped develop bilingual interpretive materials at the preserve to give further visibility to the Chochenyo language. In 2015, the Open Space Authority permanently protected the property after successfully securing a total of $8.6 million in funding to protect the rare serpentine grasslands, the Bay checkerspot butterfly population found on the preserve and the r wildlife connectivity this location provides between the Santa Cruz Mountains and Diablo Range. The acquisition was made possible through the generous support of various public and private partnerships, including the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, the State Coastal Conservancy, the Wildlife Conservation Board, California State Parks, the Santa Clara Valley Habitat Agency, the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation and the Resources Legacy Fund. Prior to its preservation, the property served as a buffer between the bustling Santa Clara Valley and a 5,127-acre facility for rocket and missile testing that United Technologies Corporation operated just a stone's throw away from San José. Funding for this public access project totaled $4 million, provided by the Open Space Authority's Measure Q, a $400,000 grant from the Gordon & Betty Moore Foundation, $400,000 in funding from the Metropolitan Transportation Commission’s Priority Conservation Area Grant Program and over $2.5 million from California State Parks. ### Click here for photos, B-ROLL, and brochures About the Santa Clara Valley Open Space Authority The Santa Clara Valley Open Space Authority conserves the natural environment, supports agriculture, and connects people to nature, by protecting open spaces, natural areas, and working farms and ranches for future generations. Experts encourage including HPV vaccine in back-to-school preparation for kids

YourUpdateTV

Every year, nearly than 40,000 men and women are diagnosed with a cancer caused by human papillomavirus (HPV) and about 14 million people, including teens, become infected with HPV each year. Recently, Heather Brandt, PhD, the Director of the HPV Cancer Prevention Program at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, conducted a satellite media tour to increase awareness and education about the importance of HPV vaccination in preventing HPV-related cancers. Dr. Brandt is urging parents and caregivers to include HPV vaccination in their child’s back-to-school immunizations. A video accompanying this announcement is available at: https://youtu.be/36xZsO3L3U4 There are several good reasons to immunize children against HPV as early as possible. HPV vaccination is recommended for males and females ages 9-26. HPV vaccination is encouraged to be completed by the 13th birthday, well before the potential for exposure to HPV, which is why Dr. Brandt is encouraging including HPV vaccination as part of a child’s back-to-school preparation. HPV can cause six different types of cancers: cervical, vaginal, vulvar, oral, anal and penile. One of the biggest misconceptions is that HPV only affects women, which is false. Men can also be diagnosed with HPV and carry the virus, which is why HPV vaccination is encouraged for both females and males. It is important that parents know which vaccines are recommended for their children and why. This allows for parents to have a thorough discussion with their child's health care provider and can avoid surprises and last-minute decision-making on vaccines. The House of Suntory Proudly Celebrates 100 Years of Pioneering Japanese Spirits

Beam Suntory

The House of Suntory, the Founding House of Japanese Whisky, celebrates its 100th anniversary of whisky innovation: a major milestone not only for Suntory’s history but for Japanese spirits culture. In honour of this centennial, the House releases a Suntory Anniversary Tribute short as imagined by Academy Award-winning Director Sofia Coppola and starring Actor Keanu Reeves, as well as an exclusive 100th-anniversary edition of its world-renowned whiskies. Twenty years after filming Lost in Translation, Sofia Coppola returned to Japan to create the Suntory Anniversary Tribute. Coppola brings her artistic genius and admiration for Suntory Whisky to life as the creative director of the Tribute which honours Suntory’s illustrious past, present and future. The Suntory Anniversary Tribute tells the remarkable story of the brand’s heritage and whisky-making legacy over the last 100 years, depicting the meaning of “Suntory Time” through the eyes of its creator. The Suntory Anniversary Tribute, which features actor Keanu Reeves, a lover of Suntory Whisky and who previously appeared in a Suntory Reserve ad campaign in 1992, debuted earlier this summer during the Suntory Time 100th Anniversary Global Premiere event in New York City. The Tribute can now be viewed on The House of Suntory website here. “We are thrilled to announce the masterful cinematic work of art Keanu and Sofia have made to mark this monumental time in the brand’s history,” said Rob Tucker, Senior Brand Manager of The House of Suntory Canada. “As the pioneer of Japanese Whisky, The House of Suntory has played an immeasurable role in shaping the whisky culture in Japan. From our Fifth Generation Chief Blender Shinji Fukuyo’s iconic blends, to showcasing the blossoming of Japanese Whisky craftmanship over the past 100 years, the film perfectly commemorates the legacy and footprint the House has had during the past century. The Suntory Whisky-loving duo has surpassed all expectations and we could not be more proud to celebrate it and share with Canada.” Later this summer, Reeves will star in another creative project in partnership with The House of Suntory: a series of documentary shorts from filmmaker Roman Coppola titled: “The Nature and Spirit of Japan.” The series explores Japanese whisky culture inspired by harmony with nature ( Wa ), elevated by Japanese craftsmanship ( Monozukuri ) and enjoyed as an authentic Japanese cultural experience ( Omotenashi ). The docuseries will strike a balance between education and entertainment, aiming to foster a deeper exploration of The House of Suntory and Japanese culture overall. "I’m honoured to partner with Suntory Whisky again thirty years after our Suntory Reserve campaign,” said Keanu Reeves. “I’m a huge fan of Suntory Whisky, so it’s very special to collaborate in honour of this milestone anniversary. My admiration for the whisky goes beyond tasting the whisky. It is the elevated Japanese craftsmanship and attention to every detail that makes Suntory Whisky so special. As an actor honing and perfecting my own craft, sharing this process in a docuseries is a thrill.” In honour of the centennial, The House of Suntory is releasing several limited-edition whiskies that highlight the unique Japanese craftsmanship at Suntory’s whisky distilleries and their meticulous art of blending including Yamazaki 18 Year Old Mizunara, which will be available in Canada, and Hakushu 18 Year Old Peated Malt whiskies. Limited 100th anniversary labels of the flagship Yamazaki 12 Year Old and Hakushu 12 Year Old will also be released for the centennial. “Hakushu and Yamazaki whiskies are gifts from our past handed down by generations,” said Fifth Generation Chief Blender Shinji Fukuyo. “It is fitting to release limited editions as part of this incredible milestone, as they represent our relentless pursuit of quality and symbolize our promise to carry our philosophy on for the next one hundred years and beyond.” The centennial of The House of Suntory began with the establishment of its Yamazaki Distillery in 1923 —the first and oldest malt whisky distillery in Japan’s history. The House of Suntory founder Shinjiro Torii’s 100-year legacy began with a dream to “create an original Japanese whisky blessed with the riches of Japanese nature and craftsmanship,” which his grandson Shingo Torii carries forth today at Yamazaki and its distilleries across the country. Since its founding, The House of Suntory has been crafting world-class spirits and is known for Yamazaki, Hakushu, Chita, Kakubin, Hibiki, Suntory Whisky Toki and Ao, as well as Roku Gin and Haku Vodka. Currently available in various markets across Canada are Suntory Whisky Toki, Ao and Roku Gin with Yamazaki coming later this fall. This landmark anniversary is a significant milestone for The House of Suntory and for its home country of Japan. As a first step toward its promising future, The House of Suntory is investing 10 billion JPY ($77 million USD) to enhance its Yamazaki and Hakushu Distilleries which are currently closed for renovation and scheduled to reopen this fall. The House of Suntory has become synonymous with some of the best Japanese whiskies in the world today, and it has undoubtedly built a legacy worthy of celebration.
