Stanford Blood Center Adopts New FDA Blood Donation Guidelines for Enhanced Inclusivity

Stanford Blood Center

Stanford Blood Center ( SBC ) is thrilled to announce the implementation of the updated FDA blood donation guidelines known as the Individual Donor Assessment, effective October 19, emphasizing a more equitable and inclusive donor assessment process. Dr. Suchi Pandey, Chief Medical Officer for SBC, stated, “This historic change in approach to donor eligibility is significant progress. By asking all potential donors the same questions about their sexual behavior, this change reflects the fact that infectious diseases like HIV can be contracted by anyone, regardless of their gender or sexual orientation. Although we recognize that FDA will continue to review if additional updates can be made, Stanford Blood Center enthusiastically supports this change. The revamped process underscores a data-centric approach that ensures blood safety. Ultimately, the blood supply is supported by multiple layers of safety, including rigorous testing of blood donors with highly sensitive tests as well as the donor health questionnaire. The data from countries that have already implemented this change – including Canada and the United Kingdom – have shown that making this change does not put the safety of the blood supply at risk. Previously, certain sexual behaviors led to donor deferrals, but under the new guidelines, an "individual donor risk assessment" approach is adopted, focusing on high-risk sexual behaviors. Notably, any donor reporting new or multiple partners in the last three months will undergo further assessment, with specific guidelines around deferral periods for those taking PrEP or PEP medications. SBC has played a pivotal role in advocating for this change over many years, contributing data to the FDA, participating in the ADVANCE Study, and supporting AABB efforts to revise the Universal Donor History Questionnaire (UDHQ). This dedicated effort underpins the FDA’s shift in guidance, ensuring a safe blood supply while extending the inclusivity of blood donation. Stanford Blood Center remains steadfast in its mission to further enhance the policy, continuing to provide valuable data to the FDA for future improvements. This initiative reflects the first steps towards repairing relationships with the broader LGBTQ+ community and invites everyone to participate in this life-saving mission. Further information about the changes to donor eligibility, resources, and FAQs can be found here. Donation appointments can be made at stanfordbloodcenter.org, via the SBC app, by calling 888-723-7831 or texting 999-777. Donors should be in good health with no cold, flu, or COVID-19 symptoms. Be sure to eat well prior to donation, drink fluids, and bring a photo ID. If donors have been deferred at Stanford Blood Center in the past based upon MSM (Men-Who-Have-Sex-With-Men) criteria, please reach out to the SBC Resource Nurse at 650-725-7336 to confirm your eligibility and begin the process of requalification prior to coming in to donate. Donors with general eligibility questions can contact an SBC team member for assistance at 888-723-7831, by email at givebloodSBC@stanford.edu, or by texting 999-777. ### Stanford Blood Center (SBC) is an independent, community blood center that supplies blood products and testing services to multiple Bay Area hospitals and is a recognized leader in the fields of transfusion and transplantation medicine. SBC was created at the Stanford University School of Medicine in 1978 to meet the complex transfusion and transplant needs of Stanford Health Care and Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford, as well as provide clinical trial services and specialized blood products for researchers. Today, the center remains locally focused, serving community hospitals, patients and donors, while contributing to research and advancement that impact the world at large. Leeuwin Metals begins on-site lithium field work at Cross Lake

LEEUWIN METALS LTD

Leeuwin Metals Ltd (ASX:LM1) MD Chris Piggott tells Proactive the company has achieved a significant milestone on kicking off field activities at its Cross Lake Lithium Project in Manitoba, Canada. The critical minerals explorer is conducting a focused exploration program to define targets, using mapping and geochemical sampling to pave the way for future drilling. This fieldwork follows successful re-assaying of historical drill core for lithium which revealed high-grade lithium with multiple, shallow, significant intercepts of spodumene-bearing pegmatites, reaching up to 1.75% lithium oxide. Piggott said: “This marks a significant milestone for the company as we begin on-site exploration. “Our primary goal is to enhance our confidence in the geological model and refine additional targets within the trend. “We anticipate providing regular updates on our field activities at Cross Lake in the upcoming months. “Our team is enthusiastic about exploring in this highly mineral-rich region. “Collaborating with the Government and local First Nation communities, we are committed to executing comprehensive exploration programs across the region.” Contact Details Proactive Investors Jonathan Jackson +61 413 713 744 jonathan@proactiveinvestors.com

Intra Energy just weeks away from drilling at Yalgarra

Intra Energy Corporation Ltd

Intra Energy Corporation Ltd (ASX:IEC) MD Ben Dunn tells Proactive the company has submitted a program of work (POW) application to the Department of Mines Industry Regulation and Safety (DMIRS) for its Yalgarra magmatic nickel-copper-platinum group element (PGE) and lithium project. Some 70 kilometres east of Kalbarri in Western Australia, the Yalgarra Project is a focal point for the company's forthcoming drilling operations. The application follows a substantial number of drilling targets identified across the 400-square-kilometre project area. The company expects the POW to be granted within four to six weeks and has lodged a request for a heritage survey with the Native Title Group. “I am personally very pleased with the speed at which our geologist, Todd Hibberd, is progressing the Yalgarra Project, identifying a number of quality targets for us to pursue,” Dunn said. “Todd has leveraged off the early work of our joint venture partners, Steve & Ed at Century Minerals, and is focusing this round of field work on several areas that we hope to progress to genuine drill targets. “Given the size of our Yalgarra licence, there is a real opportunity for multiple targets, and as we have previously announced the company is doing everything possible to drill test identified copper-nickel and lithium targets by the end of the year. “A lot of hard work over a long period of time is now starting to be realised and I know that Todd will leave no stone unturned in finding whatever is there to be found.” Contact Details Proactive Investors Jonathan Jackson +61 413 713 744 jonathan@proactiveinvestors.com

PEL 83 Exploration Campaign Update – Rig Enroute, First Well to Spud in Mid-November

Custos Energy

Custos Energy (Pty) Ltd. (together with Custos Investments (Pty) Ltd., “Custos” or the “Company”) is pleased to provide the following update regarding the upcoming exploration campaign on blocks 2813A and 2814B located in the heart of Namibia’s Orange Basin, emerging as the one of the world’s most prospective oil and gas regions. The blocks are governed by Petroleum Exploration License 83 (“PEL 83”) which is operated by a subsidiary of Galp Energia (“Galp”) of Portugal. Each of Custos and NAMCOR own 10% working interests in PEL83 and are carried by Galp through first sales. In May, Galp entered into a contract with SFL Corporation for the semi-submersible rig Hercules. The 115-day contract, prior to any extension option exercise, is for two wells plus optional well testing. The rig is currently in transit along the west African coast and is expected to reach Walvis Bay on or about November 4th. It will subsequently move on to the first location for a spud date in the middle of November. PEL 83 is located immediately north of PEL 39 home to Shell’s basin opening discoveries at Graff-1, La Rona-1 and Jonker-1. Shell continues to progress exploration and appraisal activities on its blocks with ongoing multi-well campaign through the balance of 2023 and in 2024. PEL 83 is also located northeast of PEL 56 where TotalEnergies announced its giant oil discovery at Venus-1. TotalEnergies has recently confirmed they expect to move Venus into development and are continuing their exploration efforts including spudding the Mangetti-1X prospect located north of Venus towards PEL 90. The initial drilling campaign on PEL 83 is targeting the massive Mopane complex located at the southern end of PEL 83. “With JV-estimated mean oil-in-place of up to 10 billion barrels, Mopane represents one of the most significant and attractive known opportunities in the basin today.” said Knowledge Katti, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Custos Energy. “The significant prospectivity of PEL 83 together with its relatively shallower water depth, position it to be one of the most significant and profitable developments in the Orange Basin.” he added. Maggy Shino, Petroleum Commissioner for the Ministry of Mines and Energy noted “The Ministry is excited to test these additional plays in the basin together with the JV partners, Custos and NAMCOR. We are confident that the JV will have a safe, efficient, and successful drilling campaign.” “PEL 83, together with our interests in PEL 90 operated by Chevron and PEL 87 where we are partnered with Woodside, give Custos and its affiliates an unmatched position in the heart of the Orange Basin.” added Mr. Katti. ABOUT CUSTOS ENERGY: Custos is a Namibian independent oil and gas exploration company focused on attracting investment and expertise to the Namibian offshore industry. Founded over a decade ago by Mr. Knowledge Katti, Custos continues to develop its portfolio with international partners for the benefit of all Namibians. How the Worker Shortage in Healthcare Could Impact Your Health

YourUpdateTV

A recent Harris Poll found that 68% of Americans are worried that the worker shortage in healthcare could have an impact on their own health. Recently, spokespeople from the American Academy of Physician Associates (AAPA), participated in nationwide satellite media tour to discuss the impact of the worker shortage in healthcare and how physician associates, or PAs, can help increase access to care. A video accompanying this announcement is available at: https://youtu.be/4XRJDYFt3R0 Healthcare workforce shortages are having a profound impact on patient access to care, with patients reporting feeling frustrated and anxious about their ability to get the care they need when they need it. The recent Harris Poll survey found that nearly three-fourths of all U.S. adults say the healthcare system isn’t meeting their needs, and more than 1 in 4 gave the healthcare system a failing grade. One of the most concerning ways provider shortages are impacting patients is the amount of time it is taking to get a needed health appointment. Patients are waiting an average of 3.9 weeks for a medical appointment. As one of the fastest growing medical professions in the country, PAs can make a positive and lasting impact on patient care. An overwhelming 91% of U.S. adults believe that PAs are part of the solution to addressing the shortage of healthcare providers and additionally, 90% of patients say that PAs increase access to care and make medical appointments easier to obtain. One significant issue is that PA practice laws vary by state across the country. The challenge here is that in far too many states, these laws haven't been updated to reflect the way medical care is delivered today. A resounding 91% of U.S. adults support updating PA practice laws and the mandate is clear: The public wants the healthcare system to be as efficient and accessible as possible and updating these laws is a win-win for patients and the entire healthcare system.
