COLOR FACTORY UNVEILS EXCLUSIVE COLOR PALETTE FOR HIGHLY ANTICIPATED CHICAGO LOCATION Color Factory captures the spirit of Chicago with a curation of 36 colors sourced from iconic city locations including Navy Pier and Millennium Park
The interactive art museum, Color Factory, has announced the official color palette for the company’s third permanent location, opening in Chicago this Spring. Inspired by everything from the blue-green waters of Lake Michigan to the CTA, Color Factory curated the 36-color Chicago Color Palette to be infused throughout the museum and beyond. Select shades can currently be found on wrapped bollards outside of Willis Tower.
Pulling from images captured by photographer and South Side native, Akilah Townsend, the palette celebrates some of Chicago's most iconic elements and neighborhoods. Each color and photo will be on display in Color Factory's brand new lobby, located inside Willis Tower, as part of a site-specific installation by local artist Edra Soto. An iteration of her GRAFT series, the exhibit will allow guests to peer through viewfinders to discover the photo inspiration behind each hue.
“We were so excited to partner with Akilah and Edra to create a color palette that uniquely reflects the city, capturing the magic and diversity of Chicago. Our guests will experience these 36 colors throughout Color Factory Chicago: from the exhibits within the space to a custom outdoor installation at Willis Tower. We hope the palette will inspire people to explore this wonderful city and to celebrate all the shades that make it so special.” said Tina Malhotra, Chief Executive Officer at Color Factory.
Color Factory uses the magic of color to lessen inhibition and to help people reconnect with others as well as with themselves. Their colorful art installations encourage people to let their walls down, to interact, to delight in the moment, and to take this mindset back to their everyday lives. ABOUT COLOR FACTORY
Color Factory is an interactive art museum that invites visitors to experience the joy of color through multi-sensory installations, immersive rooms, and carefully curated moments. In each of our locations, Color Factory collaborates with artists, art institutions, nonprofits, and brand partners to bring more art and color to the world. At the core of Color Factory’s mission and work are our partner artists. These creatives, designers, and makers tell their unique stories through site-specific exhibits created just for Color Factory. Our experiences are thoughtfully designed to awaken natural curiosity and encourage uninhibited play. Every hue is hand-selected and paired with a sensory experience to unleash the full power and impact of color. Inspired by the cities that we call home, we create custom palettes for each of our locations and work to identify local charities and businesses to support and give back to the community. Since our 2017 launch with a temporary space in San Francisco, Color Factory has grown into a series of permanent locations in New York and Houston, with a new flagship location in Chicago this year. ABOUT WILLIS TOWER
Located at 233 S. Wacker Drive in the heart of downtown Chicago, Willis Tower is an urban destination and state-of-the art workplace that welcomes prominent businesses ranging from law firms to large airline corporations to insurance companies. Standing 1,450 feet and 110 stories tall, Willis Tower has the region's most breathtaking views of Chicago and Lake Michigan. Willis Tower's Skydeck attracts more than 1.7 million visitors each year with its inviting hospitality and memorable experiences, all under one roof. In early 2017, Blackstone and EQ Office announced plans for the biggest restorative transformation project in the building's 48-year history. The renovation includes the addition of Catalog, a more than 300,000 square-feet curated dining, entertainment and community experience, as well as a 30,000 square-feet outdoor deck and garden, evolving at the base of the tower. The Catalog name is a historical nod to Willis Tower's original developer and owner, Sears Roebuck, and its popular printed catalog, which was a retail disrupter of its age. Catalog offers an effective way to experience great content, products and experiences. New tenants are now opening in Catalog, and this will continue through its completion in mid-2020. The Tower renovation also includes 150,000 square feet of new tenant amenity spaces. As part of the renovation, the U.S. Green Building Council awarded Willis Tower the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Platinum certification for energy efficiency upgrades made throughout the Tower.
