Fireweed Metals says Mactung project now hosts largest high-grade tungsten deposit in the world
Fireweed Metals Corp CEO Brandon Macdonald joined Steve Darling from Proactive to share news the company has announced a new minerals resource estimate for the Mactung Project located in Yukon and Northwest Territories. The resource was calculated using an historic resource through a process involving relogging, resampling, and a rigorous, modern estimation methodology.
Macdonald telling Proactive the resource, which is estimated at 41.5 million tonnes (Mt) of indicated resources at 0.73% WO3 (tungsten trioxide) and 12.2 Mt Inferred Resource at 0.59% WO3, makes Mactung, according to the company, the largest high-grade tungsten deposit in the world.
The timing of the announcement coincided with the US Department of Defense's recognition of tungsten as a critical mineral.
Fireweed plans to work with the federal government and indigenous leaders to advance the project through the permitting process, with a focus on completing metallurgy studies and publishing an updated economic study in the coming months.
