Inflectra, a leading maker of IT software lifecycle management solutions, today announced its latest Spira platform version release. The company’s Spira Version 7.0, which includes SpiraTest, SpiraTeam and SpiraPlan, three industry-leading products for application test management, test automation, and project and quality management, now comes with a built-in app store — SpiraApps.

Spira is designed to help customers streamline their software operations, allowing developers, testers and managers to allocate time and resources to business-critical assignments.

SpiraApps is unique in that:

  • The same set of plugins and extensions written as SpiraApps will be available for cloud and self-hosted (on-premise) versions of the platform without any differences in code — in other words, it will offer “write once, run everywhere” functionality for plugins.

  • It focuses on industry and methodology-specific functionality, helping to better meet the specific needs of regulated industries. For example, software products targeting the healthcare sector must comply with different regulations and requirements than those for the banking or aviation industries.

  • It gives individual customers access to features they need, without having to contend with any they don’t need, creating their ideal toolchain.

  • It allows third-party applications to be deployed and run securely and reliably inside the platform using built-in Spira Plugin Manager, so that users can harmoniously blend different tools to meet their exact requirements.

SpiraApps integrates seamlessly with three key DevOps platforms — GitLab, GitHub, and CircleCl. It will also offer enhanced risk management for hardware projects, automated standard tasks, test cases for streamlined project management, and templated artifact descriptions so customers can more easily standardize their processes.
