EG today shared its new Gender Transition Guide with employees, to better support transgender and gender non-conforming employees going through the gender transition process. These guidelines are based on recommendations from the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) and were developed in partnership with EG’s Transgender and Gender Non-Conforming Advisory Inclusion Council (TGNC IAC), its Inclusion & Diversity I&D and People Teams, and the Pride Inclusion Business Group (IBG). Progress like this is one of the reasons EG recently earned a perfect score for the sixth year in a row on HRC’s 2022 Corporate Equality Index and the designation of being one of the Best Places to Work for LGBTQ+ Equality for yet another year.

Hear directly from EG employee Alix Fitzgerald on what this update means to them —

At the moment trans and gender non-conforming people (TGNC) are in the headlines for numerous reasons, many of which make me a bit sad and quite angry. So being able to say that we are launching the Expedia Group (EG) Gender Transition Guide makes me smile when smiles are short.

These guidelines have been in the works over the last year. They are a cooperative effort between the TGNC Advisory Council, the EG Inclusion & Diversity Team (I&D) and the People Team. These guidelines are intended to guide people through the expectations and process around transitioning in the EG workplace.

It might, on the surface, feel like just another set of guidelines but they are a statement of allyship. As we all start to work together in offices, it becomes even more important to create a safe-space for people to be the people they are, to bring their true selves into their workplace. These guidelines are a step on that journey and all of us who worked on these hope they help in finding a way through a journey that can be difficult and fraught.

On this day they are released, Trans Day of Visibility, it is uplifting to bring this piece of allyship to the forefront.
