Tia’Ahlee Maxie is a perfect example of resilience, strength, and faith. A warrior in a child’s body, Tia’Ahlee has battled a heart condition since birth. While undergoing lifesaving medical treatments, including four major open-heart surgeries, she faced bullying, threats, and abuse. Through it all, her faith holds strong and, with the support of Make-A-Wish, she achieved her dream of writing a book to share her message of hope and strength. In A Child of Faith: Tia’Ahlee’s Story (River Grove Books, May 16, 2023), Tia’Ahlee shares profound words of wisdom, heart-touching stories, and the lasting message that life is precious and even trouble is truly a gift.

“Each morning when I wake up, I may forget I am blessed in that moment,” said Tia’Ahlee. “But something always reminds me to give thanks by the end of the day, because each day we have on this Earth is precious, whether we realize it or not.”

Tia’Ahlee’s journey is as inspiring as it is impactful. At just sixteen years old, her struggles surpass those of most adults, but her outlook remains one of solid optimism, love, and faith. To those who also suffer medical difficulties, abuse, or bullying, she writes, “Other people may not understand you are special and were chosen to be their teacher. Because when we’re given gifts like ours, it is always for a reason. My reason is to give hope and healing to others.”

With the support of her loving family and unwavering faith, Tia’Ahlee is an unstoppable force for good. In A Child of Faith, she dives deep into her spiritual journey, her fears, her hopes, and leads readers through a meaningfully woven story of finding peace within struggle. The core of her message speaks to every reader: you can be your own superhero by helping good people, being strong, and loving who you are. In addition to writing A Child of Faith, Tia’Ahlee continues to create art through painting, doll-making, and shares the gift of poetry with her mother, Sherricka Calvin.
