Reverend Mercedes Ibarra is announcing the launch of her wedding officiating services in which she marries people who have spiritual and religious beliefs that don’t conform with the standard practices of churches.

Ibarra, who officiates weddings in both Spanish and English, is able to provide custom ceremonies to people that's written to tell their love story and to reflect their sense of spirituality, while at the same time knowing how to respect their family's traditional expectations of what a ceremony looks like. Ibarra has found that often the people she provides ceremonies have different backgrounds in regard to their religious upbringings. Ibarra will work with them to ensure that the needs of each person is met with what they want to have in their ceremonies.

Ibarra completed a program called Equally Wed, so that she could begin working with members of the LGBTQ+ community who often feel unwelcome getting married in a traditional marriage setting. Ibarra is also certified by the Inclusive Wedding Alliance, which provided her the necessary educational foundation to officiate weddings for the LGBTQ+ community.

One of the main focuses of Ibarra’s services include officiating weddings for people who consider themselves spiritual but not religious, which in recent years has become a growing segment of the population. Ibarra provides wedding ceremonies so this demographic can have a wedding that represents them in the rights of passage.

In addition to officiating weddings, Ibarra has done funeral services for her clients as well as baby and child blessings, and she has even officiated a quinceanera. When Ibarra begins working with new clients she works with them on a tailor made and personal level to understand how she can provide them with the best possible ceremony.

Ibarra has a range of different service packages which includes one with a rehearsal and then packages that include spiritual counseling and premarital counseling. Ibarra will spend time with her clients where she interviews them as a couple to find out how they met, and the things they love about each other.

“It’s important to get stories like the story of their first date, or the story of the proposal, or both, and any other stories that they feel really are emblematic of them as a couple,” says Ibarra. “I talk with them to understand their views on marriage and we get into a very deep discussion about their views on spirituality. I then use all of that information to create their wedding ceremony.”

During the process of creating the wedding ceremony, Ibarra will walk her clients through the process they need to take to get their marriage license. Ibarra often hand delivers the newly weds marriage license to the county registrar to ensure speedy and accurate filing.
