NLPC Asks Verizon to Pull Vicious Jim Carrey From Super Bowl Ad

National Legal & Policy Center

Today, National Legal and Policy Center called for Verizon to pull its controversial Super Bowl commercial featuring Jim Carrey. For what will be its highest-profile advertisement of the year – on the Super Bowl broadcast – Verizon decided to have comedic actor Jim Carrey reprise his role from the 1996 dark comedy “The Cable Guy” to promote its new 5G wireless service. From Monsters & Critics: “Something big is almost here! Your internet will never be the same,” Verizon wrote in a tweet on Tuesday with a 10-second teaser… In the teaser clip, the camera view is zooming towards an apartment door from the inside. Someone is repeatedly ringing the buzzer and banging on the door. A woman goes over to the peephole and looks out to see who is causing all that commotion. “Cable Guy!” the 60-year-old Jim Carrey yells as he comes into view through the peephole. “Who thought this was a good idea?” asked Paul Chesser, director of the Corporate Integrity Project for the National Legal and Policy Center. “Unfortunately, Carrey, to most Americans, is no longer the lovable goofball of the “Ace Ventura” films or “The Truman Show.” During the Trump administration he revealed a second career as a crass painter of brutal, disgusting depictions of the former president and his family.” Among the repulsive illustrations – often disseminated on Twitter – were images of Trump in various states of undress; having sex with Stormy Daniels; falling asleep watching porn while COVID raged; and his sons being gored by an elephant. "Regardless of how one feels about the former President, Carey’s artwork is so vulgar and over the line, Verizon should not air the add," Chesser continued. " This is who Verizon and Chairman/CEO Hans Vestberg decided should promote its powerful new wireless service, on the day of the biggest sporting event of the year – one which is intended to bring Americans together for fun and to forget the troubles of the world for a few hours." Founded in 1991, NLPC promotes ethics in public life and government accountability through research, investigation, education, and legal action. Nielsen Launches Diverse Media Equity Program

Nielsen

NEW YORK, February 11, 2021 /3BL Media/ – Nielsen announces the launch of its Diverse Media Equity program, which is designed to elevate the visibility of diverse-owned media companies with advertisers and agencies. The comprehensive initiative includes measurement of diverse media historically excluded from investment, funding certification fees of diverse-owned media, as well as the launch of the first ever report on diverse-owned media reach and audience profiles. “Nielsen is investing in diverse-owned media by getting rid of historical barriers in traditional measurement,” said David Kenny, CEO, Nielsen. “Advertisers and the media industry recognize the need to be more inclusive and want to ensure they reach an audience that is increasingly diverse. We are leading the charge to develop a consistent framework and metrics to help demonstrate the value of diverse-owned media.” In collaboration with P&G, Nielsen also seeds a $130,000 reimbursement program with the National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC) to help cover the certification fees for diverse-owned media suppliers who qualify. The fund, which will be administered by the NMSDC, will aim to provide nearly 200+ diverse publishers the benefits of Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) certification, frequently required by large companies to qualify for diverse investment. With the demand for ad time on diverse-owned networks greater than ever, the need for equitable resources and information is more critical for many of these local businesses. Canela Media, a Latina owned media company who is part of Nielsen’s pilot initiative, has tripled the number of campaigns measured with Nielsen since signing on. “We’re excited about Nielsen’s commitment to bringing more visibility and support to minority owned businesses,” said Isabel Rafferty, Founder & CEO of Canela Media. “Our partnership with Nielsen has enabled us to deliver the granular level of transparency and measurement our clients demand. Nielsen has been a tremendous partner; they understand our business and offer us valuable insight for campaign optimization and advertising efficacy.” As part of the new initiative, Nielsen releases the Diverse-Owned Media Audience Reach and Profiles report. The report is the first of many to highlight the power of viewership and listenership to diverse-owned media, spotlighting the influence in smaller local markets where Black owned television stations reach as much as 41% of all adults and Black owned radio reaches more than 1.2 million people 12+. Additional diverse audience profiles add texture showing increasingly intersectional reach with local audiences: Hispanic-owned local TV reaches 61% of viewers 18+ in markets ranked 101+ where they are present including 24% of Asian Americans, 33% of Blacks and 39% of Hispanic viewers Asian American-owned local TV stations, where they are present, in markets 1-48 reach more than 200,000 adults 18+ Native American-owned radio reaches nearly 800,000 listeners across the U.S. with listeners spending almost 7 hours a week on average in metros ranked 51-100 “As an industry, we are just beginning to recognize the power and importance of diverse-owned media. That’s why we’re proud to work with Nielsen to create more equitable support systems and continue to explore more inclusive measurements to build greater brand engagement,” says Carlos Santiago, ANA’s Alliance for Inclusive Multicultural Marketing (AIMM) and Oppside Co-Founder. “The report data gives media buyers a view into the impact of diverse-owned media and will facilitate increased investment from media agencies and major advertisers.” The report findings are powered by Media Framework’s MAVEN Diversity, the most comprehensive and accurate database for diverse media ownership discovery and vendor management, developed and refined for over 10 years. “Identifying diverse suppliers for opportunities for investment and helping them navigate the complexities of supplier diversity are central to our business and what we are most passionate about”, said Kathleen Coffey, CEO Media Framework. “We are pleased to be part of a powerful collaboration that will drive value for brands and diverse media owners, and embrace efforts to advance investment in diverse-owned media.” Get more information on the Diverse-owned Media Audience Reach and Profiles report and the Diverse Media Equity program. Black History Month Employee Spotlight: Joyce Christanio Is Leading the Charge for Change With the Nexttech Diversity Program

T-Mobile

Joyce Christanio, senior program manager for supplier diversity at T-Mobile, often speaks of purpose. The work she is involved with has a meaningful purpose, and the responsibility that comes with it isn’t lost on her. “Our procurement team under Chief Procurement Officer Mike Simpson and Vice President Stephanie Owen is determined to provide leadership when it comes to diversity, equity and inclusion. Internally as well as with suppliers that conduct business with T-Mobile,” says Joyce. “We’re setting new standards for the wireless industry and beyond -- and changing the way companies recruit talent is a huge part of that.” As someone who lost a brother to gun violence, Joyce is passionate about the NextTech Diversity Program she manages within her larger role at the company. “We must realize that supporting these types of programs can reduce crime,” she says. T-Mobile launched the NextTech Diversity Program last year to provide career training and job placement for hundreds of diverse candidates, helping them take on meaningful employment within the telecommunications industry. The launch coincided with an announcement that T-Mobile shares the responsibility of closing the industry’s diversity gap. The 5G revolution is expected to create or transform up to an astounding 16 million full-time, part-time and temporary jobs directly and indirectly between 2021 to 2025 in the United States. It is estimated that 20,000 field technicians and trained tower crew workers are needed to help build 5G for all wireless providers. But people of color comprise a disproportionately small percentage of all network technicians and field crews, and Christanio says the NextTech Diversity Program — which has two paths to employment with its Technician Program and Commercial Equipment Driver’s Program — creates an important bridge between an industry that needs new workers and a workforce that is underrepresented. At the beginning of February, Christanio and other supporters of the program celebrated its first anniversary, boasting a 100 percent graduation and career placement rate of its original technicians class of 50 students. For 2022, T-Mobile recently announced its commitment to doubling the 2022 NextTech Diversity’s Technician Program class as well as expanding its more recent Equipment Driver’s Program. We spoke with Joyce from her home of Kansas City, Missouri where she was recently recognized by The Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Greater Kansas City for 32 years of service assisting minority, women and veteran owned businesses. It’s clear speaking with you that you believe to the core in the benefits of this program. Can you share where that confidence in the work comes from? I am so proud to be managing an exciting T-Mobile program aimed at supporting women and men of color within under-represented communities. I can personally identify and whole-heartedly embrace this program because, as a youth, I too lived in an under-represented community. Being privy to unfortunate situations occurring in inner-city communities, such as drug deals, neighbors with addictions, robberies and losing a brother to senseless gun violence, I understand the importance of lending a hand to others to improve their lifestyles. While everyone can’t afford a college education, this program provides individuals a hand to exceed a minimum wage salary resulting in sustainable careers. The NextTech Diversity Program has two focus areas: telecom technicians and equipment drivers. Can you explain how you partner with local trade schools to make the program successful? The NextTech Program was created in January 2021 to fund the training and job placement of women and men of color to become telecom technicians. T-Mobile’s chief procurement officer, Mike Simpson, recognized the need to diversify the pipeline of candidates. We partnered with telecom trade school Learning Alliance Corporation (LAC), which oversaw the recruitment, training, certification and job placement of 50 LAC graduates to 32 different network-building companies last year. Later, in September, T-Mobile’s Vice President of network supply chain, Bob Vorlicek, recognized the need to also diversify the pool of commercial drivers. Therefore, with NextTech being the trademarked program name, we now have two focus areas: NextTech Technician Program run by LAC in Tampa, and NextTech Equipment Driver’s Program that we partnered with New Reflections Technical Institute to manage in Kansas City, Missouri. Both programs are aimed at funding the training and job placement of hundreds of women and men of color through 2025. Throughout 2022, As T-Mobile aims to grow both programs, we are demonstrating our commitment to diversify talent pipelines and ensure continued sustainable positions in the communities that we serve. Additionally, technicians and drivers are the engine behind our 5G world. For us to use our handsets to talk, text, access and deposit funds into our bank accounts, take precious family photos and watch movies — to name a few things we rely on them for every day. It takes technicians to build out the 5G network and drivers to transport the network equipment to T-Mobile’s 5G cell sites. This is why T-Mobile is recommending every company that relies on use of a mobile device to stand with us in one united front to join this program and demonstrate their commitment to embracing diversity, equity and inclusion. Companies can learn more by logging onto nexttechdiversity.com. Have you seen for yourself first-hand how this program can positively impact someone? This program is special to me because it’s a way of giving back to a less fortunate group of individuals who may not have a career path or funding to pursue a career. I have witnessed graduates of the program crying as they thanked T-Mobile for funding their training. One graduate stated he didn’t know where he’d be in life if it weren’t for this program. This program directly helps inner-city youth with no direction in life, no sustainable job to make a decent living who, too often, land in jail. These programs produce jobs to hopefully prevent jail sentences. Additionally, we’re evaluating opportunities to include “returning citizens” – people released from incarceration - as part of these programs to encourage their full and successful reintegration into society. I’m thankful our T-Mobile executives put their trust in me to develop and lead such a rewarding program. I believe it enhances T-Mobile’s brand, and it enhances my life as well. Smart Transportation

Qualcomm

Designed specifically for transportation, Qualcomm® Cellular Vehicle-to-Everything (C-V2X) solutions, which include vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V), vehicle-toinfrastructure (V2I), vehicle-to-pedestrian (V2P) and vehicle-to-network (V2N) communication, can complement use of 5G networks and provide short-range connectivity for low-latency, safetycritical and mobility-benefiting applications. Together, these communications technologies can reshape the transportation sector by decreasing road incidents for safer travel and improving traffic efficiency for lower greenhouse gas emissions. Many within the automotive industry believe that the widespread use of C-V2X could potentially save thousands of lives and prevent hundreds of thousands of collisions every year by supporting safety applications for drivers, pedestrians, cyclists and roadway workers. For example, Red Light Violation Warnings (RLWV) that notify drivers when their vehicle is likely to run a red light have been shown to reduce fatalities and injuries on urban roads by 3.8% and 7.0%, respectively. 1 Additionally, crashes and other non-recurring incidents account for about half the congestion problem in some parts of the world. Hence, there is a direct line between safety and sustainability. Once vehicles are connected to everything around them, transportation systems may be able to support new services that could help improve trip planning, mode choices and traffic efficiency – enhancements that can lower emissions and reduce fuel consumption, for example: Dynamic route planning for better decision making in situations where traffic congestion can be avoided Real-time sharing of local data between infrastructure and vehicles (for instance, HD maps) to improve traffic flow and parking for a more efficient journey Smart traffic management systems that use sensor data and modeling to manage real-world traffic and mitigate congestion Sensor data sharing between vehicles and the infrastructure for more predictable and coordinated driving while enhancing road safety Making cities and regions more sustainable will take more than just smarter, more efficient transportation systems, it will also require connected mobility solutions that support more informed, personalized travel options. Whether it’s a business operating freight trucks during off-peak hours or an individual choosing an alternate route to shorten travel times, services that come from connected, digitized transportation systems can inform better choices that can lead to even greater reductions in emissions and energy usage. In an environment where all road users and traffic management systems are connected, every use case that helps to improve efficiency is an incremental step toward a more sustainable future. Nuinsco Evaluates Further Exploration at the Zig Zag Lake Lithium, Tantalum, Rubidium, Critical Minerals Property Considering New Historic High Lithium Prices

Nuinsco Resources Limited

Toronto – TheNewswire - February 9, 2022 – Nuinsco Resources Limited (“ Nuinsco ” or the “ Company ”) (CSE:NWI ), (CNSX:NWI.CN), (OTC:NWIFF), www.nuinsco.ca today announced that following the successful initial sampling conducted in the autumn of 2021 on the Zig Zag Lake critical minerals property (the “ Property ”) located approximately 68 kilometres east-northeast of Armstrong, Ontario (see news release dated 16 November, 2021) it is examining next steps to evaluate this prospective project.   The incentive to expand exploration is the anticipated dramatic increase in global demand for lithium, reflected in the current historically high price of lithium – now trading at approximately $59/kg for battery grade lithium carbonate (Li 2 CO 3 ) – a near nine-fold price increase since the beginning of 2021.  To add to the significance of the project widespread tantalum and rubidium mineralization also occurs on the Property.   “Zig Zag Lake has over 800m of known strike. Our initial sampling program covered numerous locations along only 160m of that known strike length and resulted in the collection of widespread samples assaying for lithium as well as other critical minerals,” said Paul Jones, CEO. “Zig Zag lake was optioned by Nuinsco as a compliment to the Company’s 100%-owned Prairie Lake project to broaden Nuinsco’s presence in the critical minerals sector. The initial sampling program is indicative of an extensive domain of critical minerals mineralization and the Company is now in the process of determining next phase of exploration of this prospective lithium and critical minerals property.”   Approximately two-thirds of global lithium production is used to power electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles; by 2025 sales of these are projected to quadruple from current levels – to about 15% of the global vehicle fleet, expanding further to about 35% of the fleet by 2030.  Other significant lithium uses include increasing implementation of energy storage devices and the shift to 5G technology and infrastructure, adding enormously to demand and requiring significant new sources of supply.  Tantalum has wide application in electronic capacitors used in an ever-expanding myriad of industrial and consumer products.   The initial sampling program by the Company returned very strong lithium grades peaking at 3.55% Li 2 O, with remarkable tantalum, and rubidium results peaking at 836 ppm Ta 2 O 5, and 4,003 ppm Rb 2 O.  The mineralization occurs within a pegmatite intrusion encompassed by the Zig Zag claims; the pegmatite body is known to be at least 800m in length, up to 20m thick at surface, and is fully encompassed by the Property. The sampling has provided confirmation of impressive mineral endowment and follows strong analytical results obtained from previous workers (1.2) in widely spaced, surface pitting, and trenching; these results include Li 2 O intervals of 1.53% over 7.32m, 1.28% over 9.75m, 1.68% over 7.93m, and 1.64% over 6.31m.  Limited, shallow, historic drilling (3) at several points along the occurrence has also returned significant lithium intersections, including 1.08% Li 2 O over 6.1m (between 12.45-18.55m downhole).  Tantalum values are equally impressive with Ta 2 O 5 intervals in trenches (1,2) of 0.205% over 2.54m, 0.30% over 1.07m, 0.168% over 2.54m, 0.022% over 14.17m while an intersection of 399.82ppm Ta 2 O 5 over 2.92m (between 15.50-18.42m) is recorded from drilling (3). The occurrence is open along strike and to depth and is yet to be comprehensively evaluated in the context of the fast-developing and ever-growing applications for such elements resulting from expanding global electrification, and concern over supply chain issues for critical minerals.   The Property encompasses pegmatite hosted lithium-tantalum (plus rubidium) mineralization with significant cesium mineralization also reported. Critical minerals such as lithium and tantalum are essential in the accelerating transition to a low-carbon economy while rubidium has applications in, amongst other things, electronics, medical imaging, and specialty glass.   The Government of Canada has identified 31 critical minerals, including many of those identified at the Company’s Zig Zag Lake and Prairie Lake properties, that are considered essential for the sustainable economic success of Canada and its allies under its Canadian Minerals and Metals Plan (“ CMMP ”). As part of its commitment under the CMMP, the Government is identifying initiatives designed to bolster Canadian critical minerals projects and supply chain development to help advance the competitiveness of the country’s minerals and metals sector. The Zig Zag Lake property consists of six (6) claim units accessible via an all-weather gravel road leading east from Armstrong that approaches to within two kilometres of the claims.       Click Image To View Full Size                               Photo shows Zig Zag Lake pegmatite (grey) with very coarse gained                       lithium bearing spodumene crystals (pale green).   About Nuinsco Resources Limited Nuinsco Resources has over 50 years of exploration success and is a growth-oriented, multi-commodity mineral exploration and development company focused on prospective opportunities in Canada and internationally. Currently the Company has three properties in Ontario – the high-grade Sunbeam gold prospect near Atikokan, the large multi-commodity (rare-earths, niobium, tantalum, phosphorus) Prairie Lake project near Terrace Bay, and the Zig Zag Lake property (lithium, tantalum, rubidium, cesium) near Armstrong. In addition, Nuinsco has an agreement for gold exploitation at the El Sid project in the Eastern Desert of Egypt.   Laura Giroux, M.Sc., P. Forward-looking statements are subject to a number of risks and uncertainties that may cause the actual results of Nuinsco to differ materially from those discussed in the forward-looking statements, and even if such actual results are realized or substantially realized, there can be no assurance that they will have the expected consequences to, or effects on Nuinsco. Factors that could cause actual results or events to differ materially from current expectations include, among other things, failure to successfully complete financings, capital and other costs varying significantly from estimates, production rates varying from estimates, changes in world copper and/or gold markets, changes in equity markets, uncertainties relating to the availability and costs of financing needed in the future, equipment failure, unexpected geological conditions, imprecision in resource estimates, success of future development initiatives, competition, operating performance of facilities, environmental and safety risks, delays in obtaining or failure to obtain tenure to properties and/or necessary permits and approvals, and other development and operating risks. Any forward-looking statement speaks only as of the date on which it is made and, except as may be required by applicable securities laws, Nuinsco disclaims any intent or obligation to update any forward-looking statement, whether as a result of new information, future events or results or otherwise. Although Nuinsco believes that the assumptions inherent in the forward-looking statements are reasonable, forward-looking statements are not guarantees of future performance and accordingly undue reliance should not be put on such statements due to the inherent uncertainty therein.
