Determining Whether Advancing Technology Will Support or Destroy Human Autonomy

Greenleaf Book Group

Our lives become more convenient with each technological advance, but what is the true cost of sharing the data of our habits, paths, and very bodies with those driving these advances? And what happens to our freedoms if the government gains access to that data? With a rivetingly clear view of the technology-led future, Neuromined: Triumphing over Technological Tyranny (Greenleaf Book Group, July 25, 2023), explores the risks and benefits of rapidly advancing tech and data-sharing to our autonomy, privacy, and collective freedom.   Through in-depth exploration of the looming state of data surveillance, authors Robert Grant and Michael Ashley pair a riveting fictionalized story with compelling real-world analysis that anchors their illustrated dystopic potential future to our present reality. Both entertaining and thought-provoking, Neuromined shows readers how the technology that promises a lifetime of convenience has also constrained a public’s individual options and agency.   “As a polymath, Robert Grant is particularly well suited to diagnose the dystopian cultural dilemma with maximum breadth and precision,” said Aubrey Marcus, podcaster, entrepreneur and New York Times best-selling author. “This book is a devastating blow to the tyranny of our tech fueled corporatocracy.”   Mark Victor Hansen, best-selling author and co-creator of the Chicken Soup for the Soul series added, “Technology is a two-edged sword; it may be used for both good and evil. Authors Grant and Ashley brilliantly show us how to go in the right direction with our shared technological future. This is a must-read book for both techies and non-techies.”   With a powerful through-line of the positive potential of technology when used by an informed and conscientious public, Neuromined demonstrates that all hope is not lost. When tech is viewed through a different ethos and used by those who know the true power they wield, we could change course toward a future of greater autonomy and greater access to liberation than ever before.   Pick up your copy of Neuromined today.   About the Authors Robert Grant is the founder, chairman, and managing partner of Strathspey Crown LLC, a growth equity holding company with a broad portfolio of company and asset holdings spanning healthcare, clean energy, social media, and financial technology.   Michael Ashley is a former Disney screenwriter, a columnist for Forbes, an in-demand speaker, and the author of more than thirty-five books on numerous subjects, including artificial intelligence.   # # #

BBX Minerals announces impressive results from bioleaching pilot plant testing

BBX Minerals

BBX Minerals CEO Andre Douchane joined Proactive's Steve Darling to share news of its results from pilot plant testing utilizing a sample from its Três Estados project. The testing was the second pilot plant test following the execution of a Product Supply and IP Agreement between BBX and Ecobiome. Douchane also told Proactive fire assays returned a combined total of 16.52 g/t of Pd and Au and a significant increase in gold and palladium compared with the untreated sample. The findings indicate a substantial enhancement in metal recovery through the bioleaching process. The company intends to review and refine its process strategy, looking for more improvements and maximizing recoveries in the upcoming pilot plant testing. BBX Minerals also has another project called Ema, which is located about 60 kilometers away from Três Estados and shows potential for rare earth elements. The company is excited about both projects and sees them as fitting into the future carbon-neutral economy, as platinum group metals and rare earth metals are essential for various applications such as automobiles, TVs, cell phones, and hydrogen chemistry. Announcing the Winners of the 2023 Bulldog PR Awards

Bulldog Reporter

Bulldog Reporter is thrilled to announce the winners of the 2023 Bulldog PR Awards, which recognize remarkable PR and communications campaigns and impressive individual and agency contributions to the PR industry from the previous year. The Bulldog Awards are the only PR awards program judged exclusively by journalists, offering a unique and industry-specific evaluation process. “As a long-time Bulldog Awards judge, I have watched the evolution of PR/marketing go from press releases and cold calls to true creative storytelling,” says Pulitzer Prize winning journalist, Tom Hallman Jr. “We live in an era where it is vital to adapt—to technology, to the economy, and audience and client expectations. The work in this contest shows remarkable creativity and teamwork, nearly all of it behind the scenes. Thinking, taking risks, and believing in the team is what matters most.” The Bulldog PR Awards have honored exceptional PR campaigns, individuals, and agencies for over 25 years. Every program, a Grand Prize winner is selected from each group. This year’s distinction goes to: “The 9/11 Community’s Campaign to Combat Saudi Arabia’s Sportswashing Tactics” by Winuk Communications, Inc. with 9/11 Justice for Best Campaign of 2022 Dina Mostovaya, Mindset Consulting for PR Star of 2022 French/West/Vaughan for Best PR Agency of 2022 To be considered for a Grand Prize, recipients must have entered the same entry in multiple categories and won Gold at least once. With 40 campaign categories, 11 agency categories, and seven individual categories, there was something for everyone. “This year's entries were very impressive,” says Christopher Elliott, author, consumer advocate, nationally syndicated columnist, and veteran Bulldog PR Awards judge. “We saw so many excellent examples of PR pros elevating their clients' messages and using their platforms for good. I think more than anything, they showed the true value of a PR practitioner.” Richard Carufel, editor at Bulldog Reporter, added, “It's always inspiring to see so many of these fantastic submissions, and all the interesting strategies PR firms and professionals execute for their companies and clients. The level of creativity seems to get better every year. Seeing all the amazing media placements and other results they earn reinforces my faith in PR and proves that, amid all the tech-y bells and whistles—and, in many cases, because of how PR leverages them—great public relations is more valuable than ever. And it works!” Congratulations to all the winners of the 2023 Bulldog PR Awards! The full list is available below. Spiceology and Over-The-Fire-Cooking Expert Derek Wolf Expand Line of Beer-Infused Spice Blends

Spiceology

Spiceology, the fast-growing spice company known for its innovative signature blends, has once again teamed up with over-the-fire-cooking expert and social media phenomenon, Derek Wolf ( @overthefirecooking ), to create new beer-infused barbeque blends. Packaged in the fan-favorite resealable beer cans, the Spiceology x Derek Wolf Beer-Infused Rub Collection now includes a total of ten flavor-packed rubs, all infused with perfectly paired beers. Now available for purchase, this new four-pack takes consumers on a road trip around the United States to celebrate some of Wolf’s favorite styles of barbeque, including odes to Memphis, East Carolina and West Texas. “Since first launching the beer-infused six-pack with Spiceology back in 2020, we both knew we wanted to expand the beer can line,” said Derek Wolf, Over The Fire Cooking. “Beer and barbeque have always gone together, and these blends offer new ways to experiment with those flavors. For these new blends, we specifically formulated each one with a protein in mind.” These beer-infused blends can be purchased as a four-pack or as individual cans, with plastic lids included: Sticky Bourbon Brown Ale ($14.95): Memphis-style with burnt sugar sweetness, bourbon notes, and a tiny amount of heat for balance. The blend is designed for pork but is also ideal for baked beans, sauces, grilled veggies, and compound butter. Sweet Carolina Blonde ($14.95): Inspired by eastern Carolina’s Mop Sauce, this beer-infused blend packs tang, sweet and heat all in one. Designed for pork and poultry, this blend also works for chicken, seafood, pasta, rice, and marinades. Smoked Garlic Jalapeño Lager ($14.95): Inspired by West Texas’ love of chile-based heat. This beer-infused flavor twist on a classic salt and pepper blend is made for beef, but works perfectly with pasta salad, dressings, marinades, roasted veggies, and more. Big Bad BBQ Ale ($14.95): An all-purpose BBQ blend with all of Derek’s favorite flavor profiles. This blend is made for anything and everything, especially smash burgers, beef, chicken, pork, vegetables, and seafood. “The original six-pack of beer-infused blends we formulated with Derek quickly became one of our most popular products and gift sets,” said Chef Tony Reed, Executive Director of Culinary. “For this round, Derek wanted classic BBQ rubs with his personal twist, and the addition of ingredients like cinnamon, cocoa, and of course, beer, brought these classic-style blends to the next level.” The blends can be found on Spiceology.com and are available in individual beer cans or as a set of all four. Rollin' with Flavor: Introducing Davila’s on Wheels at El Camino Food Truck Park

Davila's BBQ

There’s a new food truck in town, and it’s powered by third-generation pitmaster Adrian Davila! This award-winning restauranteur and cookbook author is taking his mouth-watering menu on the road with his new food truck, Davila’s on Wheels. Starting in July, Davila’s on Wheels will join the lineup at the famed El Camino Food Truck Park. Adrian’s latest concept expands his family-owned restaurant with a fresh take on catering that includes Texas barbecue with a Latin spin. For Adrian, the food truck is a way to bring his family's barbecue tradition to new audiences in the city and allows him to share his passion with more people than ever before. “Whenever we had the opportunity to be a vendor at the AT&T Center for the Spurs, we received a great reaction from the community of San Antonio. The Spurs reflect the people and culture of the city, and found they truly connected with our food and story. We were invigorated more with having a presence there and being a part of the rich history and are very excited to be a part in a new way.” The menu will be South Texas Tejano-inspired cuisine that’s a mix of modern Mexican comfort food. What you would expect from the menu is something you enjoy from your abuela’s kitchen but with a modern twist infused with the classic smoke and spice known from Davila’s BBQ. Approachable and made for sharing, dine on items like peanut butter mole wings, lamb barbacoa tacos, brisket grilled cheese, and more! Adrian Davila is a nationally-recognized barbecue restaurateur, chef, and pitmaster at the acclaimed Davila's BBQ in Seguin, TX. His grandfather, Raul Davila, opened Davila’s in 1959, more than a half-century ago, and passed on the secrets of his smoked BBQ to Adrian’s father, Edward Davila. The Davilas are deeply proud of their Mexican-American roots and family tradition of creating the best barbecue in Texas. Adrian credits his grandfather and father with teaching him the value of hard work. “They laid a wonderful foundation and footprint for Davilas. They are men of little words, but their dedication to their business and family to put food on the tables has inspired me since I was young. My grandfather put in the early hours getting the restaurant started, and my father expanded into catering, and sought different opportunities for business. Their entrepreneurial spirit set me up and allowed me to be able to travel and cook all over the world, write a cookbook, and continue to expand the brand.” Most of his youth was spent in the kitchens of the barbecue restaurant, learning all the special techniques until he could prepare everything on the menu to perfection. Adrian still practices those skills today and has since created unique barbecue recipes for the restaurant and their extensive catering business, including his new venture, Davila’s on Wheels. Adrian’s cookbook “Cowboy Barbecue: Fire & Smoke from the Original Texas Vaqueros” is the perfect inspiration for your next backyard barbecue. He was also featured as a judge on the Travel Channel’s show “American Grilled,” as a contestant (and first-place winner) on the Food Network show “BBQ Blitz Texas Takedown,” as a guest chef on the Food Network’s “The Kitchen” and as a judge on the Food Network’s “BBQ Kids Champion.” Adrian is also frequently featured in publications, including the San Antonio Express-News, MySA, San Antonio Edible Magazine, and the Seguin “Sizzle” Gazette. You can also find Davila’s BBQ at the AT&T Center for the 2022-2023 Spurs Season and during the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo. So if you're looking for some life-changing barbecue in San Antonio, check out Adrian Davila's new food truck. With his passion for barbecue and commitment to using the best ingredients possible, you’ll want to line up Thursday morning ahead of the rush for his next food truck appearance. In 1959, Davila's BBQ was first opened by Raul Davila in an old abandoned school house in Seguin, TX. With no decorations and no cash register, the Davila family nestled in the back two rooms of the restaurant and opened for business. Nearly sixty years and three generations later, Davila's BBQ has continued to grow and been nationally recognized as one of the top BBQ places in Texas. Third generation Pitmaster Adrian Davila now leads the restaurant and continues the tradition with passed down family recipes. Adrian celebrates traditions of Latin America and Texas, taking inspiration from the vaquero lifestyle of his own family history, infusing classic brisket, ribs and sausage with Latin flavors and ingredients. In 2018 Adrian released his first cookbook, Cowboy Barbecue, which has been featured on the Today Show, The Washington Post, and Texas Monthly. Carey Bringle Partners with Josh Williams For Another Year at the NASCAR Xfinity Series

Peg Leg Porker

A few years after Carey Bringle opened the Peg Leg Porker restaurant, he got a call from an ARCA race car driver's manager asking if he would feed a team in exchange for a sticker on his car in the Nashville race. She talked about how this independent driver visited children's hospitals in every city he raced in. The story hit home for Carey, a pediatric cancer survivor himself. That driver was Josh Williams and he won the race that night. Ever since that race, Josh and Carey have kept in touch and Peg Leg Porker has sponsored Josh's car in his Nashville races. Since that time, Carey started more ventures and Josh moved up to the Xfinity series. One thing didn't change, the connection between the two. Both are fiercely independent and both share a passion for supporting charitable causes. In fact, last year, Josh was a finalist for the Comcast Community Champion Award. The ceremony was in Nashville and Carey was right there to support Josh's amazing charitable work across the country. This year is no different. Peg Leg Porker will again be a sponsor on Josh's car and while Josh is in town, he will make a visit to Vanderbilt Children's Hospital. The TN Lottery 250 is this weekend on Saturday at the Nashville Superspeedway. The race starts with driver intros at 2:00 CST. A Nashville native, pitmaster Carey Bringle has been competing in barbecue contests for more than 27 years, and has the blue ribbons to prove it. With a deep southern background built around family values and appreciating a good meal, Bringle founded Peg Leg Porker in 2013. Peg Leg Porker is named after Bringle himself and his greatest win, a cancer battle that he triumphed at the age of 17. With his win, he lost his leg, which led him to create a new name and only added more fire to his passion for success. What started out as a whole hog BBQ team and catering business, turned into a whole lifestyle brand, inclusive of spirits, sauces and spices, to accompany world-class BBQ. Upon opening its doors in the heart of Nashville, Peg Leg Porker was quickly named one of the hottest BBQ joints in the country by numerous media outlets, including Food Network, The Travel Channel, BBC, Southern Living Magazine, Texas Monthly, GQ, Garden and Gun Magazine, and many more. Peg Leg Porker is known for its juicy, smoked-to-perfection pork ribs drenched with a spicy dry seasoning *after* being smoked. Not to mention they're made from scratch, yet playful sides, like Kool-Aid pickles and pork rind nachos, plus Peg Leg Porker’s southern hospitality have guests feeling right at home. Peg Leg Porker has expanded, sharing their ‘cue with fans all over the world with their e-commerce site to ship nationwide. Although many wish Bringle would open another location, there will only be one Peg Leg Porker. Bringle says, “We’re building a legacy, not a chain.” This year, they will be celebrating a decade of being a part of the Nashville community and are excited to continue to be a part of it for many years to come.
